Definition

Bi Jian (Peer) is one of the Ten Gods. Relative to the Day Master: another stem shares the same Five Element and the same yin/yang. Examples: Jia day seeing Jia; Yi day seeing Yi. Together with Rob Wealth it forms “Peers” (比劫)—both are “same as me,” differing only in polarity.

How to identify

Fix the day stem’s element and polarity, then check whether a revealed stem is same-as-me and same polarity. Hidden stems in the branches that reveal can also count as Peer, but strength is usually weaker than a heavenly-stem reveal. When the month command’s main qi is Peer, themes of self-reliance and splitting wealth often strengthen.

Common imagery

Peers, colleagues, partners: a “side-by-side” feel in horizontal relationships.
Self-reliance and competition: pushing by one’s own capacity, and also rivalry when powers stand equal.
Diverting wealth: when Peers meet Wealth, tradition often discusses “splitting / contesting wealth”—weigh Wealth strength and Officer/Killings that protect it.
Collaboration: a weak Day Master gaining Peers can mean support; a strong Day Master stacked with Peers needs to watch excess rigidity.

Boundaries of use

Do not read Peer as “has siblings” or “will lose money” by default. Palace, strength, luck cycles, and the concrete question all change weight.

Stem palace (year/month/day/hour), rooting depth, and overlays with Decade Luck and annual pillars all change weight. Never decide from the Ten Gods name alone.
